Ways for safe internet surfing

You are not always safe while you are on the internet. You will not be safe even after installing the antivirus. The following may help you with safe internet surfing:

  • Remember to log out

While surfing to any sites where you have to log in to your account, make sure you have logged out when you are done with it.

  • Be aware of email phishing scams

You might get the emails that look legitimate but in some cases, it may be fraudulent which may redirect to the harmful websites or drop malware on your device.

  • Use a different password for different accounts

Never use the same passwords to log into different accounts. Doing this will decrease your security to your different online accounts.

  • Keep your privacy

While starting up anything on the internet you have to fill up your personal information. You have to be conscious that you are giving your personal details which can be misused if handed over the frauds.

  • Download genuine products

We use different software products and services from the internet. Not every product on the internet is genuine which may trick you to install viruses and malware.

  • Keep your file-sharing private

Open file sharing one device to another device may also transfer the malicious files.

  • Do not log in through your other accounts

Different well known or least known sites ask for the login to their account. Using user your accounts to log in may lead to identity theft and sniffing. Therefore, avoid logging in to suspicious sites.

  • Encrypt with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) or Transport Layer Security (TLS)

Encryption and security of the transport layer can be improved using Secure Sockets Layer or Transport Layer Security. Surfing on the network can be secured by using these security layers.

  • Connect to secure channel if you have to log in to some site

Surf the channel or website starting with HTTPS. Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (https) is a secured protocol. So don’t surf the site which does not have secured protocol.

  • Use Virtual Private Network(VPN)

It establishes the virtual connection and prevents your real IP address and location.
